Brewer's Advent Day #5: Kraftbierwerkstatt - Der schwarze Bock

Oliver Koblenzer, founder of "Kraftbierwerkstatt" became infected with the craft beer virus while on vacation in Hawaii. Back home in good old Germany he taught himself how to brew and happily set out to become a gypsy brewer. He called his brand "Kraftbierwerkstatt". Oliver does not have its own brewing facility. Instead, the team rents space in the brewhouses of small breweries and uses existing brewing facilities - from brew kettle to bottling.

"Der Schwarze Bock"
Finest and dark rye malt makes this strong beer almost black, yet it's incredibly drinkable and goes down like oil. In the aftertaste, many aromas follow: chocolate, dried fruit, coffee...the list will never end. Try it yourself!

My favourite so far. A real ale with a hint of chocolate. I’m beginning to really appreciate my calendar and reflect positively on one’s I did not get overjoyed with. The variety induces an appreciation of the craftwork of the brewers and the realisation that this is a gift for everyone.

I think I got the wrong beer, just like Alex in the video. The can is right but the beer inside is not dark.

I was very unsure of trying a bock but when I opened the can and smelled it then poured it in to my beer glass and tasted it I couldn’t put it down and wished I had another. I guess this German will have to visit Dutchland for sure!!!!!

My box did not have this beer, which is very disappointing. My buddy had the same issue.

Ours was not very dark - it looked like the first one our host poured.

Day 5. This dark bock was a welcome edition to the lighter beers both before and after. We’ll balanced, great nose, drinks very flavorful and smooth.

Good beer. Nice rich, dark color and yet the beer is surprisingly lighter in taste than I expected.
