Landgang Brewery is one of the initiators of Hamburg's recent beer history. Until two decades ago, Hamburg was dominated by two breweries, both belonging to the Danish Carlsberg group. Today, the beer scene in the city is more vibrant than ever and the number of breweries has grown to over 20.
Lars, one of the two founders of Landgang Brewery, had a craft beer store and wanted to have his own beer. Sascha, his friend, had just completed his training as a brewer. The two made common cause and quickly had great success. After just two years of gipsy brewing, they were able to invest in their own brewery.
Landgang, by the way, is a name that refers to Hamburg's port history. For many centuries, Germany's most important port has connected Hamburg with the world. When the ships docked in the harbor after their often months-long voyage, the sailors disembarked, they went ashore. Landgang is the German name for excursion to the mainland.
And "Helle Aufregung”? Literally translated it means "bright excitement".
