Description
The brewing in Grünbach is documented with the brewing right from 1723 since the early 18th century. Other documents point to a much older brewing tradition in Grünbach. Probably was already brewed there with the settlement of Franciscan monks in the village around 1500 there regularly. In the era of Count Seinsheim much was done in Grünbach for progress. He brought the qualified steward and brewmaster Benno Scharl here in 1787 to get the run-down estate and the dilapidated brewery going. What this ingenious Braupionier and champion of the purity law in Grünbach accomplished within a quarter of a century seems magical. The brewery in its present appearance and scope is his work.
