Description
The brewery, founded in 1533 as the "Prince-Bishop's Brown Beer House," is now the oldest among the thirteen breweries in Bamberg. It remained in the hands of the prince-bishops until 1790 when it was privatized. In 1851, it was acquired by Peter Braun, the son of an apothecary from Kitzingen. The current owner, Anne-Rose Braun-Schröder, is now the fifth generation. The beers brewed today are traditionally in the best sense: Brown beer, black beer, smoked beer, cellar beer, and bock beer.
