Description

The brewery Erzbergbräu is located on the edge of Eisenerz old town on the so-called Mautbühel, directly opposite and with stunning views of the medieval fortified church of Sankt Oswald. We are right at the intersection of the footpath from the mine in the old town and the turnoff to the fortified church, whose 500th anniversary was celebrated in 2013 (by the way, with our "Oswaldi-Festbier"). From the former city drugstore (the building thus remains true to the legal drugs) was created in 2011/2012 in a conversion period of almost a year, the first Eisenerzer brewery for 100 years. Exactly 100 years ago, in 1912, the last Eisenerzer brewery, the "Bürgerliche Brauhaus" (formerly Judmeier), closed. The second brewery in the Gasthof Fock closed its doors in 1882 already in 1882. Brewing kettle and lauter tun are placed in the dining room in the form of a "showroom" on the ground floor and the brewing process can also be followed from outside. The brewing unit The brewing unit and controller come from the company Wengert from Grünkraut-Gullen near Ravensburg. The capacity is 3hl per brew, through the 3-door version with whirlpool, a double sud with 6hl per day can be produced. The fermentation cellar In addition to the open fermentation vats for the main fermentation according to the traditional method, we have 4 pressure tanks to 6hl for the secondary fermentation in the fermentation cellar. The ripening of our beer takes place in barrels in the cold store at a temperature just above the freezing point. The barrel and bottle cleaning For the hygienic cleaning and sterilization of our containers (barrels and bottles) we have a cabin cleaner of the company Gruber / Eugendorf in use. This ensures that our beer is not subjected to microbiological challenges after bottling. The bottling The bottling by hand is a very time consuming process. Therefore, we fill only to a limited extent in ironing bottles of 0.5 and 1 liter and in disposable bottles of 0.33 and 0.75 liters.
