Description

In 2002, three friends, Martin Cizek, Hans Hölbling and Lothar Mens, came up with the idea of brewing their own beer. By chance, they met the brewmaster Volkher Kaltenböck, who studied in Weihenstephan know, and began in 2003, first attempts to start. The first brewing attempts were made with a conventional soup cooker. In 2004, the team consisted of six people. In autumn 2005 Volkher Kaltenböck came up with a special Sud. It is a special beer, which is to count the Bockbieren. From the sum of the experiments, which the team carried out for a long time, a "raven-black" beer was produced. This beer won the state championship in Hallein in 2005. It was brewed in a 70 liter goulash canteen converted into a mash pan. The malt was crushed in an old two-roll grist mill from 1912. The seasoning was cooked in a 160 l manger. The maturing of the beer took place in two ZKG tanks, each with a capacity of 400 liters. As a result, 2006 saw the founding of the brewery Attersee. The brewery Attersee moved its location to Straß in the Attergau in 2009 and changed the name of the brewed beer from "Hoangartenbier" to "A-Bier". So that the same product was not brewed in two breweries, Lothar Mens optimized the brewing process and successfully established himself on the market with the "A-Bier". Today, the small brewery supplies some gastronomic businesses.
