Description

The Augustiner-Bräu Wagner KG is the oldest existing brewery in Munich. Augustiner-Bräu is also the brand name of the beers produced there. The brewery, founded in 1328, had its first location in the Augustinian monastery near the cathedral in Munich. Here, Augustinian monks brewed and sold their beer directly in the monastery for more than 500 years. In 1829, the brewer Antoninger Wagner from Freising acquired the company, which since then has been a bourgeois private brewery. His son Josef Wagner had a modern new building erected on Landsberger Strasse at the outskirts of the city, in which the brewery relocated in 1885 and still has its location today.
