Urban Chestnut Brewing Company - Konomi - Japanese Ale

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Japan America Society of St. Louis, Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. collaborated with Masumi Sake in Suwa, Japan (St. Louis’ sister city) to brew Konomi 好み, a Japanese Ale brewed with sake yeast. The Masumi Sake Brewery, operated by the Miyasaka family since 1662, discovered and isolated “Brewing Association Yeast Number Seven” the now widest used sake strain in the world, and sent Urban Chestnut their home yeast with which to brew the beer.
