Beer description
As they said in an immortal film from back in the nineties: boxers, unlike wine, don’t get better with age. We don’t know if this applies to everyone, but some cultural symbols are definitely here to stay. For example, there’s the enduring appeal of the old school, and not only when it comes to music – we’re thinking of malts.
The British Maris Otter is definitely old school, so we used it to whip up a vintage barleywine that evokes the sweet nostalgia of better times. Caramel notes, with hints of barberry, show off the strengths of a classic barley. A decent dryness with a light, hoppy bitterness proves that, while some things change, others will always be in style.
