Our Nepenthe, named after our favorite sunset spot in Big Sur, California, is a double cold-hopped double IPA. Brewed with pale malt and a finely balanced amount of caramel malt, this beer has an initial sweetness that carries the hop flavor and adds light toffee notes without turning into caramel. The hop additions are a "best of" East Coast and West Coast - a good amount of Columbus in the first wort with a load of Simcoe and Talus in the whirlpool adds a solid bitterness to this beer. A mix of Talus, Comet, Simcoe and Idaho 7 give the beer the right amount of juiciness combined with a truckload of tropical fruitiness.
