Beer description

Brewery Gold Ochsen launches the 7th edition of its limited series of strong beer specialties The Ulm brewery Gold Ochsen is once again underscoring its art of brewing with a new vintage beer in a limited edition: the "Gold Ochsen Porter". The bottom-fermented strong beer specialty with 7.5% alcohol by volume unfolds a malty-sweet note on the palate, which is harmoniously rounded off by bitter chocolate-like roasted aromas and thus promises a unique taste experience. The "Gold Ochsen Porter" also impresses the discerning beer lover visually: The dark mahogany color gives the strong beer jewel in combination with the hazelnut-brown, fine-pored foam cushion a particularly elegant effect. As a tradition, which is based on the year the brewery was founded, the "Gold Ochsen Porter" is filled by hand in 1,597 0.75-liter bottles. The limited edition is now available in the brewery shop, in the ox shop in downtown Ulm and nationwide via the Gold Ochsen online shop. The strong beer specialty can also be purchased from November 25th to December 22nd at the Gold Ochsen brewery's stand at the Ulm Christmas market. The elegant packaging and the appearance of the cork-sealed bottle make the "Gold Ochsen Porter" the perfect Christmas present for family and friends. But the vintage beer will also not fail to have an effect as a special gift or "thank you" - for example at a festive occasion or in the form of a guest present. Brainstorming of our creation The idea for the vintage beer no. 7 brought back Gold Ochsen manager Ulrike Freund from a trip to New Zealand. There she visited Speight's Brewery, founded in 1876, in December 2018 and tasted a porter beer specialty that she loved. The legendary beer style comes from England, was launched in the 18th century and was quickly exported to other countries due to its popularity with dock workers - the name porter, English for porter, also comes from this time. “The creation of our vintage beer is always something very special for us and a great opportunity to demonstrate our art of brewing apart from the Gold Ochsen range. The idea of reinterpreting a beer as rich in tradition as Porter immediately met with great enthusiasm in the team, and we are certain that the result will convince beer lovers,” says Stephan Verdi, Technical Manager and 1st Brewmaster at Gold Ochsen. Smell and taste of the Gold Ochsen Porter The bottom-fermented "Gold Ochsen Porter" was brewed according to the German Purity Law with dark roasted malt in a complex two-mash process, fermented with the unique Gold Ochsen yeast and then stored cold for several months. The result is a strong beer specialty that flatters the eyes, nose and palate in equal measure: the sight of the beer, which shines in a dark mahogany color with fine-pored, hazelnut-brown foam, makes you want to take the first sip, while a scent of sweetish caramel with roasted coffee and dark balsamic tones played around the nose. When first drunk, the "Gold Ochsen Porter" presents itself as mildly sparkling and creates an extraordinary taste experience with its malty-sweet character and the bitter chocolate roasted aromas. Goes perfectly with it The limited vintage beer no. 7 goes perfectly with hearty meat dishes such as rump steak, lamb chops or game ragout, making it the perfect alternative to full-bodied red wines. In addition, the "Gold Ochsen Porter" is the ideal accompaniment to a chocolate dessert with a coffee arrangement.
