Description

The brewery Gold Ochsen GmbH is a brewery in Ulm. The name Gold Ochsen is known since 1499 in Ulm. In 1597, the innkeeper Gabriel Mayer founded the hostel, brewery and Weinwirtschaft Zum Goldenen Ochsen in Herdbruckerstraße in Ulm's old town near the Danube. Over time, the owners changed frequently. In 1812, the brewer and guild leader Jakob Wieland acquired the brewery. In 1867 his son Philipp Wieland sold her to the Leibinger family, which she has since kept family property. With the move to the then northern edge of Ulm below Michelsberg, a new brewery in the Veitsbrunnenweg was moved. Thanks to the fact that the destruction was hardly significant during the Second World War, this location was preserved. After the war, the brewery acquired concessions for PepsiCo products and has been offering soft drinks since then. For this purpose in 1960 a separate sales company, the Ulmer beverage sales GmbH, UGV was created. Gold Ochsen and UGV are today the largest beverage network in the Donau-Iller region. In 1991, Ulrike Freund, the daughter of former managing director August Leibinger, took over the management of the family business in its fifth generation. The brewery has been operating two bottling plants since 2012, each with a capacity of up to 40,000 bottles per hour. [
