Brewer's Advent Day 20: Erl Hell

Brewer's Advent Day 20: Erl Hell

Again a beer from a very traditional Bavarian brewery. Erlbräu is small and fine, was founded in 1871 and has been in the hands of the Erl family for six generations. Brewmaster Ludwig III Erl stands at the brew kettles with his son Josef II, who is also a brewmaster. Ludwig is furthermore a chef, and together with his wife he also runs the associated brewery inn. The Erls brew according to all the rules of the Bavarian art of brewing. They swear by their open fermenting vats and plenty of time for slow fermentation and long storage in cold cellars. You can taste it in the beers. They are particularly clear and pure, finely bubbly and of great harmony. Even the judges of the European Beer Star have already been convinced and awarded Erl Hell a bronze award. Cheers!

Far down on my list of good beers. Easy to drink, but not avery complex flavor profile. This would be a warm weather drinking beer for me.

Light blond in color, well rounded and full of flavor. A bit sweet and crisp. smooth aftertaste that makes you want another. Excellent helles! Damn the Bravarians can make such a good basic beer. My can was the Erlkonig with vintage strip pattern.

Very clear light beer. The head is very white in color very fine bubbles long lasting aromatic. The beer is a little sweet and very well-rounded. This is one that I really like and could have any time of the day.

I got an Erl made beer, but it has a different can & says Erlkonig Hell. Is that the same thing? Either way, it's very good.

Very good, light and crisp. Unfortunately I only got a few of these, most of my Advent calendars (I usually buy about 20) had a hefeweizen in this spot.
