The village of Hohenthann is located near the hop gardens in the Hallertau region. There, in Hohenthann there is a castle brewery. It is more than 150 years old and continuously in family ownership. Many beers from the brewery have won awards. They have also impressed the judges of the European Beer Star. Four Gold Awards have gone to Hohenthann in recent years, plus another four silver and two bronze awards.
The master brewer knows the hop farmers personally and visits the fields again and again in summer to see whether the "green gold," as he affectionately calls the hops, is growing and thriving. Above all, the Hallertau Tradition variety, because this is what he needs for his Hohenthanner Tannen Hell, the beer he presents to us today.
