A trip through Germany usually includes a visit to the beautiful city of Heidelberg. Not far away, in Plankstadt, is the family-owned Brewery Welde. Brewmaster Stephan Dück today presents his unfiltered Lager, called “Kurpfalzbräu Kellerbier”.
Tradition and modernity
Kurpfalzbräu belongs to the Welde brewery. It is family-owned and has been in existence since 1752. "Kurpfalzbräu" is Welde's own brand. It stands for classic German, traditional beer styles: German Style Helles, wheat beers and, above all, the popular Kellerbier, an unfiltered lager.
In addition, fine craft beers also come from the brewery. Welde is one of the pioneers of the craft beer movement in Germany and very successful.
With "Badisch Gose," they celebrate the historic beer style Gose, which originated in Goslar as early in the Middle Ages. Welde puts bock beer into wooden barrels (Bourbon Barrel Bock), experiments successfully with black and pink pepper (Pepper Pils), and also loves hoppy beer styles like IPA or Pale Ale.
But let's now move on to Kurpfalzbräu Kellerbier. Cheers!
