Brewer's Advent Day 15: Ueberquell Bambule Pils

Brewer's Advent Day 15: Ueberquell Bambule Pils

Hamburg, St. Pauli. Axel Ohm and Patrick Rüther fulfilled their dream of having their own brewery in 2017. Not far from the famous fish market, they have turned the listed, historic buildings; the so-called "Riverkasematten" into the ÜberQuell Brauwerkstätten. In summer, you sit on the large terrace by the colorful lager tanks; in rainy weather (it often rains in Hamburg) inside at the large community table with a view of the pizza oven, bricked by one of the last manufactories from Naples. Notable is the small brewery museum in the corridor between the restaurant and the brewpub. There you can admire an absolute rarity: a copy of the book "Die Kunst Bier zu brawen" by Henricus Knaust. It was published in 1575 and is one of the oldest and most important beer books in the world. Only three copies have survived. One belongs to ÜberQuell. A Pilsner has been missing from the brewery's standard range until now. The ÜberQuell brewers took a long time and did a lot of fine-tuning; they wanted to create a perfect Pilsner. Have fun with Bambule Pils from Hamburg.

Not very good. Too hoppy/bitter for a pilsner. Pass.

For me this would be a nice tasting summer beer, very easy to drink. I actually prefer a darker beer with more flavor notes than this though.

This is a great beer. Really nice and smooth pilsner flavor, maybe doesn’t quite have enough hop structure to be flawless but it’s a great beer that I would happily lose track of around 10 of them.

I wanted to like this one because of the awesome can, but it is a little too earthy for me. I am getting a bit of a tea-like after taste.

If I were to rank this one against the others I have tasted, I give it a 7/10. Very average.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical biased off the can design but after pouring in a nice tall glass, this turned out to be a nice tasting beer.

Lacy head, quickly dissipating, on top of a slightly hazy yellow beer. Medium mouthfeel, grain flavors with some slight pepper hint, well balanced but a slight, slight sourness on the back end. Slight grain and earth hints in the aroma, but very mild.

I enjoyed the unique label and the beer!! People won’t forget the label as wild as it looks and I’m not getting a hoppy flavor. It’s quite enjoyable!!! Cheers 🍺🍺🍺
