Brewer's Advent Day 14: Kaeuzle Helles Lager

Brewer's Advent Day 14: Kaeuzle Helles Lager

Kauzen owner Karl-Heinz Pritzl looks with pride at the more than 210-year history of his brewery. First mentioned in 1809, it has been in the hands of the family since 1849. Much has changed over the years, but the passion for the craft of brewing in general and the love for the regional art of brewing in Lower Franconia have remained. You can see it in the product range of the Ochsenfurt brewery. Helles, pilsners, wheat beers, bock beers ... brewed according to the rules of the Bavarian Purity Law. Constant investment has made Kauzen Bräu what it is today: a highly modern, medium-sized and independent brewery. And: The succession in the family business is assured. Son Jacob is already at his father's side. He is a brewmaster with heart and soul and a business economist with an excellent university certificate. Käuzle Helles: Brewed from local raw materials. The barley grows directly in the fields behind the brewery. The hops come from the Bavarian growing regions of Spalt and Hallertau. The brewing water from the brewery's own deep well and the yeast from its own pure breeding. Bavarian Helles, through and through. Cheers!

Nothing special about this one. Tastes like a lager.

I have had several beers that were different than what this says it should be. Maybe they couldn’t secure enough specific product and subbed something in place???? No matter, I’m happy. I get to try new beer everyday. That’s a win.

My least favorite beer so far. Tastes too much like American lagers.

Not my favorite Helles style. To me, it seems a little too sweet. I taste lemon and other citrus flavors I would like it to be a bit more dry & crisp.

This is a great beer. Very light, sweeter helles that still finishes clean. Would happily drink 10 of these in an afternoon as a warm up for a night of drinking.

A light bodied Helles with light hints of grain in the body and aroma. Quickly dissipating head, easy drinking. Nice beer.

Crisp lager. Golden color, creamy white head (that’s what she said). Smooth flavor with little hoppiness or aftertaste.
