Brewer's Advent Day 13: Wieninger Hoamat Weissbier

Brewer's Advent Day 13: Wieninger Hoamat Weissbier

The Wieninger family has been brewing in the south of Bavaria for 350 years and seven generations. The brewery is located in Teisendorf, a small village not far from the delightful city of Salzburg. Today we are enjoying Wieninger's wheat beer. "Hoamat" is its name, which means "homeland". The Bavarian homeland is important to the Wieningers. All the ingredients for this wheat beer grow in the region, the hops even thrive in their own garden, they have their own yeast strain and the water comes from their own spring. The Wieninger brewery brews its beers gently, ferments traditionally in open fermenting vats. Brewmaster Bernhard Löw personally takes care of every brew. He is an advocate of long storage times and gentle filtration. Wieninger Hoamat is a typical Bavarian wheat beer. Yeast-cloudy with a golden yellow color and dense foam. It impresses with its fruity aroma, tingling aftertaste and mild, mellow flavor. It goes best with poultry and fish dishes, vegetable dishes, fresh cheese and fruity desserts.

Very different after taste, at first I didn’t like it but now it’s very good, easy drinking.

Lovely flavor - like fruitiness and like high carbonation. Super beer!

This is a great beer. Classic spiced banana bread, and really thirst quenching. Finishes very nice and clean. 9 more please.

I did finish it, but wasn’t very good. I found it dull & bitter for a weiss.

I enjoyed this Weissbier, which I believe was in last year’s Brewers Advent Calendar (in the USA). Quite hazy, with lots of yeast sediment st the bottom of the glass. Flavors include banana and sharp spices. Slightly sweet and crisp.

Not what I got. Mine was a Hosl Marzen. Decent but not my favorite style. I think this is like the third Marzen in my calendar this year.
