Brewer's Advent 2023 Day 3: Kurpfalzbräu Kellerbier

A trip through Germany usually includes a visit to the beautiful city of Heidelberg. Not far away, in Plankstadt, is the family-owned Brewery Welde. Brewmaster Stephan Dück today presents his unfiltered Lager, called “Kurpfalzbräu Kellerbier”.

Tradition and modernity

Kurpfalzbräu belongs to the Welde brewery. It is family-owned and has been in existence since 1752. "Kurpfalzbräu" is Welde's own brand. It stands for classic German, traditional beer styles: German Style Helles, wheat beers and, above all, the popular Kellerbier, an unfiltered lager.

In addition, fine craft beers also come from the brewery. Welde is one of the pioneers of the craft beer movement in Germany and very successful.

With "Badisch Gose," they celebrate the historic beer style Gose, which originated in Goslar as early in the Middle Ages. Welde puts bock beer into wooden barrels (Bourbon Barrel Bock), experiments successfully with black and pink pepper (Pepper Pils), and also loves hoppy beer styles like IPA or Pale Ale.

But let's now move on to Kurpfalzbräu Kellerbier. Cheers!

Nice and light simple pleasures, and a little lemony hint. I really like it.

We appreciate your feedback. The customer support team had a further look into this. The different beer selection in some US states is due to different licencing processes. Some beers simply couldn’t be licensed in time as was planned for this year’s season. For this reason, already licenced ones where used for some states as a replacement. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused and are hoping you enjoy the beers in your Brewer’s Advent Calendar! Have yourself a great Brewers Advent and Christmas time.

I am loving this! I spy the beer of the day from the video, go to my fridge and make sure I havre the correct beer. C’mon people, look ahead to stay on track, lol. I really liked the Kurpfalz beer. I would rate it a 4. We have many “hazy” ales in the USA, and I am trending to like lighter beer as I get older. This unfiltered beer is delicious. I give it a 4. Cheers!

Thanks for the explanation at least. This is the first season Ive experienced where the selections have been jacked. I emptied out the calendar and chilled them, hoping to match up with the app today. Spoiled any surprises for myself but happy to see some old favorites in there.

I’m sorry to those that aren’t matching up but hopefully you stop telling us everyday and open them all and just drink the beer of the day that they show on the video. I enjoyed the first 2 days better than today but today was still good and fun. I’m surprised how much fun I’m having and can’t wait for another day.

Today is Bambule Pilsner for me. While I am enjoying the beer, it is disappointing that the beer in my calendar and on the app do not match
