Brewer's Advent Day #8: Wiener Lager

Did you know that the beer style Wiener Lager was invented in Vienna already in 1841? Anton Dreher was the name of the master brewer who knew how to brew this copper-colored lager at its best. At that time, he recognized the importance of fermentation and storage at very low temperatures. He built many cellars and installed one of the first refrigeration machines in the world in his brewery. This enabled him to artificially produce ice and keep his cellars cool even in summer. His findings were soon implemented all over the world.

Egerer Wiener Lager: Light copper, cream-colored foam. Light hop notes followed by caramel. Nice effervescence. Malt aroma dominates and is accompanied by subtle hop bitterness.

A great lager with a clear copper color, a malty aroma and a crisp-caramel flavored.

Very good! Great flavor as German beers always are and super drinkable. Show was interesting. This beer would have to be one of my favourites so far as I prefer this style.

A solid lager style. A little more full bodied than Helles. Lighter in color than a Marzen ir Fest bier.

I really enjoyed this beer it was nowhere near as heavy as I thought it would be. It is a beer that I would most definitely keep in my refrigerator all the time

Thought I posted last night! The beer was very enjiyable, but lighter than expected. Enjoyed the maltier side of this iffering, andbit went really well with the cod and risotto I had for dinner. Would buy this beer if it was available in Annapolis, Maryland.

A delicious lager; lighter in color than other Vienna Lagers that I’ve had. Perhaps a little less sweet and rich, but very drinkable. Clear golden color. Mild aromas of wet grain and malt. Smooth and sweet on the palate with little to no bitterness. Yes, I’ll have another!
