Description

The Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by the farmers Tom and Gill Mellor. The company is high up in the Yorkshire Wolds, where the hills roll into the North Sea, and is a family owned business run by the third and fourth generations of Mellors. They pride themselves on brewing top-quality beers from home-grown barley grown from the Yorkshire Wolds' chalk and from the farm's own well. The family has farmed 600 hectares on the Yorkshire Wolds for generations. With declining revenues from traditional sources of income, they concluded that diversification was needed. They spent 12 months exploring their vision of making the finest Yorkshire ales, and in 2003, Wold Top Brewery built their first beer in a converted barn. After thirteen years, they have won several prizes and are proud of their range of year-round and special edition cask and bottled beers, which include Wold Top Bitter, gluten-free beer against the grain and the golden summer.
