Description
The Schlichter Brauhaus was founded in 1528 when a number of Schlichter Bürger brewed brown beer. Beer was also brewed by the owners of number 1 in Schlicht - today Winklergasse 1. Josef Franz Winkler married into the Heeg family and since 1782 the owners have come from the Winkler family in consecutive order to this day. From 1900 onwards there were three breweries in Schlicht, of which only the Winkler-Bräu-Schlicht exists today. Since the 1970s, there has only been one brewery in the Vilseck community and in the area surrounding the Grafenwöhr military training area, the Schlichter Winkler Bräu, headed by managing director and master brewer Karl Winkler. The experience of over 200 years of family brewing tradition is one of the most important foundations for the high quality of Winkler drinks. It is still brewed according to traditional family recipes, strictly according to the provisions of the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. We select our raw materials with particular care. Franconian and Upper Palatinate wheat and barley malt from controlled cultivation, fine-tart hops, the particularly soft sizing water from the Vilsecker valley, and the great sensitivity of our master brewer give our beer its special, inimitable character. A wide variety of beers and a range of non-alcoholic beverages are brewed and bottled at the Winkler Bräu estate.
