Klaus Peter Vetter, founder of the pub brewery, has been self-employed all his life. As a young man he took over the parental operation of a carpet cleaning. And always built it out. Well-known clients, such as executives of listed companies, cleaned their precious oriental rugs there. Mr. Vetter senior had a nice hobby, that was the beer and its production. For this reason, annual visits to Andechs Monastery, the Oktoberfest and many small brewery inns were on the program. And so the idea of own brewery was born. Brauh_04 Bierschildemail And so an idea became a project, with much help from the family of the project reality. From a restaurant in Heidelberg's old town became the first restaurant brewery in Heidelberg, and right in the heart of the old town. Here is still brewed their own beer today. Brauh_10 The brewhouse with 10 hectoliters was built by Kaspar Schulz from Bamberg. The whole family was on its feet. You started with conversions and designed the restaurant lovingly, so you feel comfortable in it. Then in October 1987 the time had come, the first brewery in Heidelberg opened its door. The Vetter's Alt Heideberger Brauhaus was opened! Brauh_07 Every guest is welcome here, from the student from Heidelberg to all the tourists who visit Heidelberg. Even some celebrities come to our place to a liter of beer with white sausage and oven-fresh pretzels. Our beer and the good bourgeois cuisine, especially popular our fried potato pans, are soon known and from near and far we welcome our guests. Meanwhile, Michael Vetter, son of the brewery founder, works in the company as managing director. Some renovations have already been done in the past years and so preparing for the anniversary in 2012, then it's 25 years Vetter's Brauhaus!
