Description

The Wellpark Brewery is a brewery in the east of Glasgow below Glasgow Necropolis. It is the seat of Tennent Caledonian Breweries UK Ltd. The brewery was founded in 1740 by Hugh and Robert Tennent. The brewery gained supraregional renown in 1885 with the main product Tennent's Lager. This beer is the market leader for bottom-fermented beers in Scotland. The old name J & R Tennent was changed to Tennent Caledonian Breweries in the 1960s following a change of ownership and merger with an Edinburgh brewery. Today, the brewery with an annual capacity of over 2,000,000 hl belongs to the C & C Group (including Magners). With the participation Drygate Brewing Company (a joint venture with Williams Bros) engaged since the same location since 2015 on the market of craft beers.
