Description
The first documented mention dates back to the year 1492. Already in the 16th century, "Prewhaws bey der Stiegern" became the Stiegl Brewery. The brewery continued to grow, and the city became too small for it. A new brewing facility was established in 1863 in the Maxglan district. Today, Stiegl is one of the largest breweries in Austria and is 100 percent privately owned. In addition to classics like the Goldbräu, which has been on the market for over 100 years, there is a variety of beers in the main assortment and in the specialty lines "Hausbiere" (house beers), "Jahrgangsbiere" (vintage beers), and the "Wildshut" products.
