What began over a hundred years ago, less than 100 metres from the sandy beach and the Wadden Sea, with a grocer's shop for everyday needs, is now a fourth-generation family business that includes Metscher's Gasthaus, Metscher's Stube, Metscher Frischemarkt and the Heimathafen holiday apartment complex.
