Description
The Lichtenberger Sonnenbräu brewery, in the small knight's town of Lichtenberg (Upper Franconia), was formed in 1904 from the town's communal brewers. However, beer has been brewed in Lichtenberg for over 200 years.
The last municipal brewmaster, Christian Jungkunz, bought the families' brewing rights around 1900 and founded Sonnenbräu in 1904.
The brewing method and beer production has always been strictly maintained to this day according to the purity law.
In 1950 the brewery was sold to Mr. Peter Trier, who made the brewery a prestigious company in Upper Franconia. After the death of Mr. Trier, the brewery fell into a slumber.
In January 2018, Mr. Handon and Stefan Lang took over the traditional Sonnenbräu brewery in Lichtenberg, which in the meantime held the company name Sun Brew. Since 2020, Stefan Lang is the sole owner of the brewery.
The various beer names such as Lichtenberger Pils, Sonnenweisse, etc. have been combined in recent years under the brand Raubritter beer.
