Description
The König Ludwig Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg continues the 760-year-old brewing tradition of the House of Wittelsbach in the best possible way. This is due in particular to the initiatives of HRH Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, who in the 1970s set about developing the small brewery in Kaltenberg Castle into a modern company.
The beers of royal highness and the non-alcoholic beverages of König Ludwig Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg are brewed at four locations (Fürstenfeldbruck, Schloss Kaltenberg, Holzkirchen, Thannhausen). All four locations are historically significant and all have a great brewing history and tradition.
- The company headquarters and administrative headquarters are located in FÜRSTENFELDBRUCK. König Ludwig Weissbier has been brewed here since 1980.
- The KALTENBERG CASTLE brewery is the place where it all began! Built in 1292 by the Bavarian Duke Rudolf I, Schloss Kaltenberg has been home to a brewery since 1871.
- König Ludwig Brauhaus HOLZKIRCHEN can look back on a long tradition: almost 400 years ago, the Abbot of Tegernsee granted Holzkirchner Oberbräu the right to brew beer. In 2007, König Ludwig Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg acquired the brewery in the south of Munich. The declared aim was to develop the former “OBERBRÄU” into a brewing and logistics center. König Ludwig Hell, which has been brewed in Holzkirchen ever since, combines traditional brewing methods, top quality and an old Bavarian identity.
- König Ludwig Brauhaus THANNHAUSEN is a brewery with a great history. Good beer has been produced in the pretty town of Thannhausen for over 500 years. Today, the beers of the traditional brands “POSTBRÄU” and “MÜNZ” are brewed here.
