Description

The origin of today's monastery brewery in Kemnath is based on the Franciscan monastery founded in 1660. Beer was brewed there for the monks' own use until secularization in 1802. With the secularization, the monastery became privately owned. Since then they have been a family-run microbrewery. According to an old, over 350 year old tradition, they still brew bottom and top-fermented beer specialties in the monastery and produce lemonades, juices and juice spritzers.
