Description
The former Heckenhof Castle, a Streitberg fief, was first granted as a fief to Balthasar von Aufseß in 1498.
It remained in the possession of the von Aufseß family for 304 years until it was sold to the innkeeper and brewery tenant Johann Seeger in 1802.
In the second half of the 19th century, Georg Ott took over the brewery and inn, and from 1900 the “Schloß-Wirtshaus” Heckenhof was owned by the Wilhelm Hans Dorsch family.
After his death, his wife Barbara Dorsch continued to run the inn and brewery until 1952. Her son Hans Dorsch then ran the property for two years.
After his death, his sister Kathi, later married to Meyer, became the owner and manager of Kathi-Bräu until her death on October 10, 1993.
After that, Kathi's long-time master brewer Josef Schmitt was responsible for the brewery, restaurant and garden until his death on 22.12.2018.
Alois Maxemilian Schmitt has been running Kathi Bräu Heckenhof since February 2019.
