By moving into the Thalermühle, the Weller Brewery Erlangen cooperative is continuing a tradition of Weller's beer brewing and pub business that was established in Erlangen in 1811 and lasted 100 years. Long-established residents of Erlangen are still familiar with the rock cellar known as the "Weller-Keller" for storing beer and the brewery's adjoining hop garden. Modern but tradition-conscious, the cooperative is driven by the idea of reviving this old art of brewing, which is rooted in Erlangen. The opening of the "Thalermühle" brew pub took place in the early fall of 2019 in the historic walls of the Thalermühle in Erlangen.
