Description
The roots of Unertl beers go back to the Weißes Brauhaus in Arnstorf (Lower Bavaria), which was founded in 1919 by Philomena and Alois Unertl. Unertl's first wheat beers were brewed here until 1928. However, the brewery was then sold to Count Deym. Nevertheless, the "Weißes Brauhaus Alois Unertl Mühldorf" brewery was established from the proceeds. The Unertl brewery in Mühldorf am Inn, founded in 1929, also specialized in the production of wheat beer from the very beginning. The brewery was run as a family business by the fourth generation until 2021. Independently of this, a family member of the Unertl family founded a wheat beer brewery in Haag in 1948. Although the two breweries are often confused, the Weiße Brauhaus in Arnstorf is the origin of the famous Unertl beers. In March 2021, brewing operations in Mühldorf were discontinued due to technical challenges and the coronavirus crisis. Nevertheless, this situation was successfully exploited and the Unertl Mühldorf brewery was intelligently developed further. Under the new name Unertl GmbH, the company continued to operate with the same expertise and experience since 1919. The aim was to develop new beers and beverages and to further integrate the organic certification from 2000. The beers are now brewed at the Aldersbach brewery and other breweries, but not only as contract bottling, but according to the company's own recipes together with master brewer Wolfgang Unertl.
