Description

The Brasserie d'Achouffe is a Belgian brewery located in the commune of Houffalize in the Bastogne district of the Walloon province of Luxembourg. At the end of the 1970s, Pierre Gobron and his brother-in-law Chris Bauweraerts decided to brew their own beer purely for hobbies. In 1982, the entrepreneurial establishment of the brewery Brasserie d'Achouffe took place and the production and commercial distribution of the bright, strong beer La Chouffe was started. Based on the legends of the Ardennes, a dwarf was chosen as the company logo of the brewery. Since 1988 La Chouffe is also exported. In September 2006, the Duvel Moortgat group took over the private brewery and the trading range was expanded to include more types and brands of beer; the international sales network has also been considerably expanded. In addition, the inclusion of a clear brandy Grappa-style and a coffee liqueur in the accompaniment of beers. Today, the Brasserie d'Achouffe employs about 23 people, with an annual output of about 21,000 hectoliters, which are exported to more than 20 countries. The main customers are the Netherlands. Among other things, the products of the Brasserie d'Achouffe are distributed by the internationally established Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize.
