Description
The Brasserie Castelain is a French family brewery. It is located in Bénifontaine, near Lens, in the Pas-de-Calais department. In 1966, Roland Castelain and his wife took over the Bénifontaine brewery, which was founded in 1926. 1978 was followed by the takeover of the brewery by their children Yves and Annick Castelain. A year later, Yves Castelain developed the bright Bière de garde Ch'ti blonde. In 1986 the brewery launched the first organic beer in France, jade. Under the Ch'ti brand, the Brasserie Castelain brews typical northern French Bières de garde, in several variations, the light Ch'ti blonde, the amber-colored Ch'ti ambrée, the Ch'ti triple. There are also other types of beer on the market, such as the Maltesse or the organic beer Jade, as well as seasonal beers. Brasserie Castelain supplied the film Welcome to the Sch'tis (Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis), released in 2008, with Ch'ti beer, as well as old beer crates and beer advertisements. Thanks to his appearance in this comedy by Dany Boon, the demand for Ch'ti beer increased and the family brewery from the Pas-de-Calais became well-known throughout France. The Brasserie Castelain has a beer output of 48,000 hectoliters today.
