Description

The Böhmisch Brauhaus Großröhrsdorf GmbH is a brewery in Großröhrsdorf in Saxony. The brewery was opened in 1887 as a steam brewery. The Grossröhrsdorf entrepreneurial family Großmann financed the construction. The first tenant of the brewery was Albin Nestler. After about 14,000 hectoliters of beer were brewed annually until the beginning of World War I, production was switched to mineral water in 1916/1917 due to the war. After the end of the First World War, the brewery was resumed. In the 1930s and 1960s, the company was fundamentally expanded and modernized. After nationalization in 1972, the brewery was incorporated into the VEB Dresdner breweries in 1975 as part of the Bautzen plant. In 1979 this resulted in the formation of the VEB Getränkekombinat Dresden. After the turnaround, the brewery was reprivatized in 1990 and again modernized in the following years. Since 2008 the brewery operates as Böhmisch Brauhaus Großröhrsdorf GmbH.
