Description

Birra Moretti is an Italian brewery founded in the northern Italian city of Udine. Since 1996, the company has belonged to the internationally established Dutch group of companies of the Heineken brewery. Birra Moretti was founded in 1859 by Luigi Moretti as "Fabbrica di birra e ghiaccio" (beer and ice cream factory). The brewery was located on today's Via Luigi Moretti. In 1860, the first bottle of the Moretti "flagship" Birra Moretti came on the market. The brewing business was relocated from Udine to San Giorgio di Nogaro. In 1996, Birra Moretti was bought by Heineken and the brewery abandoned. The brewery is operated today by Birra Castello. The production was continued under the old brand name in the other Italian Heineken breweries. Today Birra Moretti is exported to more than 40 countries.
