Hofbrauerei - Brewed and bottled in the Vierkanter Our brewery is located on the square farm of the Datzberger family in Winklarn, in the middle of the idyllic Mostviertel (Lower Austria). We can count ourselves lucky to brew craft beer on our very own brewing plant. True to the motto: small but nice, we have built our brewhouse simple and uncomplicated for an output of 200 liters of beer per brew. From the grist mill, water treatment plant, mash tun, brew kettle, to the fermentation tanks and cooling, spilling and filling technology, we have everything that makes us a real craft brewery! Sustainability is a top priority for us. For example, we obtain the electrical energy for the processes in the brewery (cooling, pumps, agitator, etc.) directly from our in-house photovoltaic system! The thermal energy for hot water and heating also comes from our own biomass heating system, which we fire with wood. Raw materials - From the best, farm-owned malting barley We attach great importance to the quality of the raw materials (water, hops and malt). The relationship to regionality plays a very important role for us. The brewing water comes from the in-house fountain. We are very careful about the purity and high quality of the water, so active groundwater protection is practiced in the fields around the agricultural farm in order to keep the water quality sustainably high. We grow the brewing barley for the brewing malt ourselves on the farm's own fields. When sowing and maintaining the barley fields, we pay attention to environmentally friendly and biodiversity-promoting handling, so that the malting barley grows and thrives in order to achieve top quality. Harvested with great care, the malting barley forms the basis for our beers after being refined in brewing malt. We obtain most of the hops directly from our hop farmers in Hallertau in Bavaria and from the Mühlviertel. Here we fall back on modern, Bavarian aroma varieties as well as regionally adapted varieties from Austria. In our own hop garden grow the aroma hops Cascade and Perle, which we harvest every autumn and use directly for brewing. Being able to use our own brewing malt and hops makes us happy and proud at the same time! So you and we know where Bierkanter comes from! Isn't that easy?
