Description
Avondale Brewing Company's historic building has a rich and infamous history, having been home to a plethora of businesses. Over the years the building has been home to a post office, a firehouse, a bank, and for several decades was also a popular local bar known as the Long Branch Saloon. The upper floor of the building was at one point a secret bordello, servicing the saloon's patrons below. Legend has it that the building is haunted by a former lady of the brothel, now known to the current occupants affectionately as Meredith.
Once upon a time, Avondale was inhabited by Native Americans who were drawn by the grear spring coming out of what would later be known as Avondale Cave. The spring gushed forth the purest water that could be found for miles around. Years later when the city of Avondale was formed, the main thoroughfare (now 41st Street) became known as Spring Street.
