Beer description
Seaweed ale. Prior to the 1850s, there were many Scottish coastal pubs that had brewed their own beers, these beers were made from local malted barley grown in fields fertilized with algae. This environment gave the barley a very specific taste, which is recreated by adding fresh seaweed to the mash tun. In addition to the algae (blister rust) harvested on the Argyll Coast, organic malt was also used. Dark brown beer with a reddish, short-lived head. Light grain aroma with notes of chocolate, malt. The taste is slightly sour, like chocolate.
