The Rhenish Alt is a traditional top-fermented beer, the taste is pure and the finish mild. The deep chestnut color comes from a good portion of Weyermann® Munich malt as well as a touch of Weyermann® CARAFA® Special Type I. This beer, with its beige head, impresses on the nose with light banana esters and cloves, roasty chocolate aromas and hoppy citrus notes. On the palate, hops and malt are bittersweet in balance. The palate features a subtle combination of mild chocolate, caramel and cocoa. Light flavors of pickled peaches add a refreshing component to this German specialty beer. The finish is pleasantly tart and dry - just as this beer style dictates.
