Beer description
In 1985 Uli Bennewitz made history, changing the law in North Carolina allowing brew pubs to sell beer directly to consumers and giving rise to North Carolina’s booming beer industry. The Weeping Radish Brewery opened in 1986 and the first beer brewed was a German Style Wheat. In honor of the Weeping Radish’s 30th Anniversary the NC Brewer’s Guild with Sierra Nevada Brewing Company recreated the recipe and christened it in honor of the industry’s founding father. The brewery is re-brewed Sierra Nevada's tribute beer using local malts including Triticale grain from Durham’s Epiphany Malt House. Triticale is a unique hybrid of wheat and rye and offers a spicy, yet soft, malt flavor to the traditional German-Inspired wheat beer.
