Sun King Brewing - Bourbon Barrel Johan

Johan is a Barley Wine-Style Ale and was the first batch of beer ever brewed at Sun King on July 1, 2009. We filled two bourbon barrels from the initial batch and let it age. This process imparts even more depth of character to this award winning beer, which was the first release of our King's Reserve Series. Bourbon Barrel Johan was the winner of the Silver Medal in the Wood and Barrel Aged Strong Beer category at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival.
