Schlägl - BIO Roggen

Available in 0.33l returnable bottles and 0.33l non-returnable bottles. That's a rich, deep golden color with which the shiny and therefore unclouded beer makes its way into the glass. The foam, on the other hand, gives up the race for optical points very quickly after it has formed as thick as a finger with medium to coarse pores, only to then quickly disappear again. Bready rye aromas with beautiful, intense spicy notes are also fun for the nose. Strong malt notes with a lot of rye make you want more in the initial taste alongside sweeter honey aromas. Soft fruity citrus notes emerge behind the honey. More intense but not dominant carbonic acid supports this recent beer. Somehow I miss the hops in this beer. Even the body, which is rather slim, cannot hide this. In the aftertaste, the hops make an attempt at reconciliation and bitter notes add to the overall very dry impression. Subtle fruity notes are added later.
