Master brew for the German Championship of Master Bakers
It is not often that you come across officially crowned national champions in a particular field. And even rarer is the case when they come from the same town as yourself.
Johanna Lenhardt, a master baker from and in Oberelsbach, and her colleague Lea Wagner from Aschfeld, emerged victorious in the fifth German Championship of Master Bakers. Not only did I have the honor of shaking hands with the freshly crowned German champions, but also of brewing a "beer" with them.
After a nice chat among craft enthusiasts about baked goods, their ingredients and processing at the championship, personally preferred beer styles, and their combinations with baking ingredients, the following had crystallized: The master brew will be reddish, strong, subtly bitter, but brewed with cassis, kalamansi, cocoa, and vanilla.
