Jopen - Jacobus RPA

Amber and fruity-tart, thanks to the use of American hop varieties Cascade and Simcoe. The rye malt gives the beer its characterful taste. Fruity aromas of grapefruit, combined with a peppery rye accent and a hint of caramel. Jopen Jacobus was named after the former Jacobuskirche. Jopen turned this church into a brewery, a grand café and a restaurant, giving it the name "Jopenkerk" (Jopenkirche). This beer was developed in 2011 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the church. St. James is the patron saint of pilgrims. Pilgrims used to spend the night in pilgrimages in inns along the route. These inns were exempt from tax duties if you brewed their beer with rye. That's why the Jacobus is still a rye pale ale beer. A very spicy beer.
