Beer description

Elegant slightly tart Session IPA, carefully brewed with organic rhubarb pulp and then dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Neighbourhood IPA is a refreshing Session IPA with organic rhubarb added. The beer's white head, slightly hazy pink colour and fresh, tart rhubarb aroma will undoubtedly evoke many fond summer memories. But that doesn't limit the beer's potential as a deliciously refreshing thirst quencher - all year round. Neighbourhood IPA first and foremost tickles the senses with the fruity tartness of rhubarb, but also offers notes of tropical lychee fruit, ripe red berries and an underlying vinousness from dry hopping with Nelson Sauvin. The acidity is prominent in the flavour, while the bitterness is almost absent as no bittering hops are used at all during the wort boil. Not surprisingly, the beer's refreshing yet complex tartness is partly due to the addition of rhubarb, which naturally contains both oxalic and malic acids. As these acids can be a little too astringent and astringent in large quantities, our brewmaster has chosen to let the majority of the beer's acidity come from a controlled acidification with lactic acid bacteria. This results in a cleaner and fresher acidity. In addition, the organic rhubarb is added twice, both during mashing and at the end of the wort boil, which reduces the oxalic acid content somewhat when it meets the mineral content of the brewing water, not least calcium.
