De Struise Brouwers - Pannepot Vintage 2017

At Struise, we love all of the beers we make. However, if there is only one thing that we should rightly call our "flagship", it is Pannepot. After brewing tasty but "safer" beers for a lifetime, this was our first foray into a world of extremes, and we have a great responsibility for making us what we are today. This "old fisherman beer" named after the fishing trawlers on which the men risked life and limb to support their families, sits somewhere between a strong Belgian dark ale and a stout. It pours a rich dark brown with a creamy brown head. Every sip hits you with complex aromas of toasty bitterness and deep caramel sweetness. With all of its dark and heavy complexity, this beer is perfect for all types of barrel aging, and that's exactly what we did. We matured it in different casks, including bourbon and calvados.
