One long and cold Bavarian winter night, vagabonds wandering the Black Forest happened upon an empty cabin steeped in the aroma of Glühwein simmering on a fire. The vagabonds entered and helped themselves to the warmth and wine. Upon their last sip, the fire extinguished and a loud cackle pierced the night air.
