"Our green hop beer is something very special, if only because it can only be brewed once a year for the hop harvest," says Nele Gänz, head of the Bitburg experimental brewery. “The taste largely depends on the growing conditions of the hops, which is why such a beer has a different character every year.” Together with other employees of the brewery and hops farmer Andreas Dick, she picked the hops early in the morning and then immediately afterwards with her team Bitburger green hop beer brewed. Freshly harvested hops have to be processed quickly, otherwise they will lose their aroma: "Bitburger is in the fortunate position of being close to a hop garden - that's the only reason why we can process the hops so freshly."
