10 Barrel Brewing - Castaña

We chose a Mexican-style dark lager as an outside of the box choice to send off into wine barrels for a mixed-culture secondary fermentation. We then added dried Montmorency cherries to provide a gorgeous auburn hue to this dark chestnut colored beer and a rounded, tart fruitiness that melds perfectly with the rich, nutty maltiness and oaky, spicy notes from the base beer.
